Win A Horse - NEW

The State 4-H Horse & Pony is hosting three horse giveaway contests. Three breed organizations, Indiana Quarter Horse Association, Indiana Halflinger and Indiana POA, will be giving horses to a deserving 4-H member. For more information and applications, visit the State 4-H Horse & Pony website at www.four-h.purdue.edu/horse_pony.

The Whitley County 4-H Horse and Pony Club home is located at the Whitley County fairgrounds in Columbia City, IN.  Our club works within the objectives of the Indiana 4-H Horse and Pony program.

Our 4-H season begins in January and finishes with the awards banquet in late fall.  Our members meet once a month (4th Monday) -- January thru May at the 4-H Bldg. During these months we plan seminars-demonstrations for our members ranging from ground safety to nutrition and  vaccinations.  Beginning in June (every Monday) our members begin to bring their horses to our arena at the fairgrounds.  During these meetings the members will learn everything from riding safety to trail and showmanship.  See our calendar for specific dates and times.

We have also been very fortunate to be able to host an inexpensive ($10 donation for food) horsemanship camp for our members in June.  This is a great opportunity for our young members to learn about horsemanship, proper care of their horse, grooming for the show, and what to expect when showing their horse.  For more information on this great opportunity contact Sherry Buettner at 799-4033 or e-mail her at horseytalk@onemain.com

If you would like more information about our club please contact one of our Advisory Board members or send us an e-mail.   Please also visit the other areas of our Web site.
